Having just hit the big "six zero", I'm eager for the next sixty! My youngest daughter sums me up well, her gift a plaque saying "IN THE END ITS NOT THE YEARS IN YOUR LIFE THAT MATTER BUT THE LIFE IN YOUR YEARS!" well travelled but there's always more places and peoples to see. I try somewhere a bit different every year, just back from Iran, which was magical and now planning 4 weeks in Patagonia for the end of the year. However the west coast of Scotland is hard to beat and always an annual pilgrimage. Settled in England's last unspoilt county but not sure I'll stay here forever, that's the wanderlust in me. Probably somewhere warmer, there is a sensual pleasure in eating al fresco. I Enjoy what cities have to offer but most content away from the crowds. My "church" was God made, not man made, so I cleanse my soul and find peace and contentment in nature especially the mountains. I like art, ignorant of its finer points but I know what I like and if I like, I buy. Other things that give me pleasure: my work, a book to escape into; a thinking-man's drama on "the box"; listening to music that stirs the emotions - at home or live; cooking, eating, drinking and the pleasure of sharing. Life's for laughing at, whatever its done to you! The past is history, the future uncertain and so for me its carpe diem! I treat others as I would wish to be treated and have no truck with those not of the same ilk. It has been said I would never make it as a politician or diplomat, which I take as a compliment! A w.Y.S.I.w.Y.G, thats me! Its also been said I'd make someone a good wife! In other words I'm pretty good in the kitchen and at looking after myself. A one time competitive athlete, I now enjoy just staying in shape. I've a slim, athletic frame with no spare parts - yet! Hairs gone walkabout but grass doesn't grow on a busy street! I hold fast to old fashioned values. Once an officer and a gentleman, now just a gentleman. Photos honest, 2013 to 2010. I welcome the same in return.

My name is Joe, Im 27 (though i dont feel much older than 17) and I work trading tribal art + crafts and rare/medicinal plants, herbs and seeds. Interests: * Music - I'm kind of eclectic in musical terms... I play the djembe (African drum) which is great fun and great for stress relief but really tiring! In terms of listening music it really depends on occasion/mood, I try to avoid classifying music but it ranges through just about everything except garage and pop - rock/punk/metal, DnB, abstract, psy, ambient, reggae, tekno, classical and of course silence which I think is often under-rated... * Friends - Can't have too many of these, though I am more selective than most people and distinguish strongly between friends and acquaintances ;) * Reading - I love books, seem to buy them faster than I can write them. Especially old books... something special about being able to read thoughts had by someone decades ago * Film - incredible what you can experience curled up on a sofa watching a film (especially with someone else ;) - some films have changed my whole outlook on life, one of my ambitions is to learn how to make films * Writing - helps me organise me thoughts, dont have time to do enough of this... * Parascience - our world and the human mind we perceive it with truly is stranger than we can suppose; mainstream science is still just a candle in the dark * Gardening - I like plants and trees, love watching them grow (over time - not just staring/waiting for them :) * Archaeology - I love visiting ancient sites - Avebury (stonecircle), Wayland's Smithy, etc. Visiting the Aztec/Maya sites - Chichen Itza, Palenque, Teotihuacan etc. * Photography - mostly wildlife * Ethnobotany - the relationship between plants and people * Electronics - I like making random electronic things (or at least trying! :) - at the moment I'm making an ultrasonic spider repeller * Art - I sell fairtrade tribal art as a business, but can only draw stickmen personally * Activism - I get the feeling our society is becoming increasingly Orwellian. There are plenty of things that are just plain wrong about the way our society works and I do my best to try and effect positive social evolution whenever I can... this takes lots of forms and can be surprisingly fun! * Travel - this is one of my main ambitions in life... my dream is to find Aiaia... Here are some of the other places high on my list of travel destinations: - Andes; Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Chile, Mexico, Guatemala, Egypt, Tunisia, India, China, Italy, Greece, Armenia - also I want to see a lot more of the UK + Ireland... just need to find the time and someone to travel with!
