Hello everyone…. I've been in Shanghai for just over 2 years now and really love it here. It makes London (my other home) seem small time and I never thought I'd say that. I love riding around in taxis at night, seeing all the lights and skyscrapers. I love how international and grand it all is. My life is very settled and I’ve made great friends and love my teaching job and class. I find it very hard to ever see myself leaving to be honest! Anyway, about myself... I think I'm a good natured and relaxed person and find those qualities attractive in others. I like being around people and being busy, out in the world not cooped up at home. I like being creative and like creative people. I recently finished writing a novel and enjoy decorating my classroom and cooking (I think that counts too, right?). I love reading and watching TV shows and films and talking about them afterwards. My favourite authors are Cormac McCarthy, JG Ballard, William Trevor and Hilary Mantel. It’s hard to choose a favourite film or TV show but Breaking Bad and Madmen would be near the top along with The Big Lebowski, Adaptation and Election. I so admire the artistically talented people who help create these things. I dream one day of joining their number. I enjoy going to the cinema and out drinking and dancing. I love house music and drum and bass (really like the nights at Dada and the Shelter here) and used to be into that scene in quite a big way when I was younger. My favourite bands are Arcade Fire, Sparklehorse, the Flaming Lips, Alt J and the National. I play a lot of football and ping pong and also do Pilates which I find very meditative and relaxing. I love travelling and have spent a lot of time in South America in the past (learning Spanish as I traveled from Mexico to Argentina). I like eating out, walking in the city, rivers, penguins.... I like lots of things, I won't bore you with them all! I really believe life's a journey (a cliché, I know, but it's more like a journey than a table for instance) and am always looking to be a better person and experience new things. I guess that's how I ended up in Shanghai. I enjoy sharing stuff - art, travelling, food, chats - and would like to find someone special who feels the same way. That's why I'm on here really, to find someone to click with. Here's hoping.
