A Woman Who Has Walked Between East and West, Through Darkness, and Still Believes in Love. A letter to my best friend, teammate, and life partner. Hello, I’m Sirius Black Moon. “Sirius Black Moon” is a name I chose for myself. The Black Moon represents the shadows, fears, and difficult parts of life that I have had to face, while Sirius, one of the brightest stars in the night sky, represents something very different to me: even after walking through darkness, I still choose to remain free, clear-minded, kind, and capable of believing in love. So, Sirius Black Moon does not represent darkness itself. To me, it represents the ability to preserve one’s sense of direction, one’s light, and one’s capacity to love even after experiencing darkness. I was born in Yunnan, China, in 1990. Yunnan is located in southwestern China, bordering the Tibetan Plateau, and is a land of snow-capped mountains, forests, valleys, lakes, and rivers. It is also home to 26 ethnic minority groups and has a long and complex history of cultural exchange and integration. Sometimes the natural landscape reminds me of Asheville in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina: mountains, forests, streams, open skies, and a way of life in which people can still feel connected to nature. Perhaps because I grew up in such an environment, I have always felt deeply connected to mountains, forests, animals, and the natural world. I am a tall woman, 175 cm (5'9"), with an independent, direct, and open personality, and I have a strong sense of self. I value freedom, personal space, distant horizons, and the unknown, and I am willing to take responsibility for the choices I make. At the same time, I am not a person with only a hard side. I am deeply sensitive to music, sound, language, film, and the emotional and inner worlds of people. I can face life independently, yet I can also be deeply moved by a piece of music, a film, or a meaningful conversation. I have always felt that there are two different forces within me: one is like a wild horse running across an open landscape—free, strong, and unwilling to be tamed; the other is quieter and more drawn to forests, nature, ideas, and deep human connection. My life began crossing between East and West at a relatively young age. When I was eighteen, I left China on my own and moved to Singapore, where I spent the following seven years studying and working. For a young woman who had grown up in a traditional Chinese cultural environment, this was a profoundly important experience. Singapore is a highly international society in which different ethnicities, religions, languages, and cultures coexist. Living there made me realize for the first time that many things we grow up believing are simply “the way things are” are actually answers shaped by a particular culture, history, political system, economic structure, and society. Once I entered another society, I began to rethink family and individuality, the collective and the individual, freedom and responsibility, tradition and modernity, society and government, as well as the different ways in which civilizations understand love, wealth, religion, and the meaning of life. This experience did not lead me to believe that the East is necessarily right and the West necessarily right, or vice versa. Instead, it taught me to see the strengths, limitations, and costs of different civilizations. To me, genuine cross-cultural understanding is not about choosing one side. It is about being able to stand between different cultures, observe the world from more than one perspective, and ultimately develop a set of values that is truly my own. That is also why I strongly identify with some of the core American values of individual freedom, human dignity, equality, and individual rights. I believe that an adult should have the right to choose the path of his or her own life while also accepting the responsibility that comes with freedom. I especially believe that a woman should have her own thoughts, career, body, beliefs, friendships, and choices in life, and that a man deserves the same sense of personal integrity and freedom. I do not want to control another person's life, and I do not want to surrender my own life to someone else. What I truly hope for is a relationship between two independent adults who each have a complete life of their own and still consciously choose one another. To me, mature love is not possession, dependence, or one person sacrificing her own identity to complete another. It is two people who are free to remain fully themselves while still choosing to respect, support, and stand beside each other. My professional experiences have also taught me a great deal about people. Between 2010 and 2019, I worked for different types of organizations in China and Singapore, including multinational companies, state-owned enterprises, private real estate companies, and international five-star hotels. I met people from many different countries, regions, industries, and social backgrounds. These experiences gave me an understanding of the business world and allowed me to live and work in different cities across China. As I have grown older, however, I have increasingly realized that a person's position, income, education, and social status are only external labels. What truly reveals who a person is often becomes visible not when his career is going well, but when life becomes difficult—when circumstances fall outside his control, plans fail, relationships break down, or his career suffers a setback. How someone behaves at the top of the mountain does not tell you everything about who he is. What matters even more is whether, after falling into a valley, he can stand up again, and whether he can remain kind after experiencing disappointment and pain. After turning twenty-nine, my life entered an important period of transformation. I began to seriously reconsider my career, family, relationships, and the question of how I truly wanted to live. Things that I once considered important gradually lost some of their meaning. A respectable career, financial success, social recognition, and conventional ideas of achievement all have their value, but they could no longer answer the questions that mattered most to me: Why am I living? And what is truly worth pursuing for an entire lifetime? Sometimes life pushes a person off the road he or she thought was meant to be followed, and the things that once provided a sense of identity and self-worth gradually fall away. Although this process was not easy, it forced me to face myself honestly. I have experienced fear, loss, loneliness, disappointment, and major changes in the direction of my life. I have also experienced my own periods of darkness. But I do not want my past to become my identity. I would rather understand it, walk through it, and transform what I have experienced into strength. The Greek myth of Perseus and Medusa has always resonated deeply with me. To me, Medusa is not simply a monster from mythology. She can also symbolize the fears, wounds, failures, shame, and inner voices in real life that once made us believe, “You are not good enough,” “You have already failed,” or “You will never have another chance to begin again.” Real growth is not about pretending that these things do not exist. It is about reaching the point where you finally have the courage to face them. Batman also resonates with me because his strength does not come from never having experienced fear. His strength comes from being willing to enter the darkness, confront fear, and eventually refuse to be controlled by it. In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry eventually realizes that the person who summons the Patronus and drives away the Dementors is actually himself. That idea has a deep meaning for me as well. At a certain point in life, we realize that the protection, strength, and courage we have been waiting for someone else to give us must ultimately grow from within ourselves. I gradually learned how to become the person who could protect herself. That is why I often say that part of my strength comes from darkness, but I do not belong to darkness. I have seen some of life's shadows, and because of that, I appreciate light more deeply. I have experienced loss, and therefore I value what I have even more. I have experienced loneliness, and therefore I understand the value of companionship more deeply. My past did not make me cold. If anything, it made me believe even more strongly that true strength does not mean never being hurt. It means being able to stand up again after being hurt without losing the ability to love. I do not need a man to rescue me because I have already learned how to stand on my own. But I hope that one day there will be someone who is willing to sit beside me when I am tired, just as I would willingly sit beside him when he is going through a difficult time. We can both live independently while still choosing to become each other's most reliable companion. After everything I have experienced, I eventually found myself returning to some of the ancient wisdom of the East. I became increasingly drawn to Taoist philosophy and the traditional Chinese understanding of life reflected in Traditional Chinese Medicine. What attracts me is not mysticism itself, but a simple idea: human beings are not enemies of nature; we are part of nature. Spring brings new life, summer brings growth, autumn brings harvest, and winter brings rest. Life has its own rhythms, and so do we. We are not machines. We have bodies, emotions, desires, fears, wounds, and the ability to recover. Nature has taught me to accept the cycles of life, and it has also taught me that pain is not always something that simply needs to be eliminated. Sometimes pain is a reminder that we need to understand ourselves in a new way. When I walk through a forest, go hiking, or sit beside a stream, I feel as though I am returning to the simplest state of being. Trees do not believe that their lives are over simply because winter has arrived, and a river does not believe that it will never flow again simply because it has temporarily dried up. Life is the same. Winter will pass, storms will pass, and a person always has the ability to begin again.

I was a local who grew up in Xishuangbanna. Sixteen years of business experience made me grind a tough and independent sex in the fireworks, but still kept a big, high-handedness. My friends always say that I am like the sun of the bana, and the heat is direct, and I have a passion for life in my heart -- filial to my parents is a habit engraved in my bones, and honesty is the bottom line. The silence of being alone and the random nature of humming music while driving are all true to me. I love to do two things during my leisure: I can make a pot of Menghai's Pu'er tea, watch the tea soup faint in the cup, listen to the tea pot's roaring tea, which is a slow time for Panna, and drive through the rainforest road. The melody that runs through the car's audio and the rubber forest and the Tai Zi-zai that pass through the window are good remedies for the mood. Living here, I've been used to tea and hospitality, and I'm looking forward to meeting someone who is willing to share this pyrotechnic gas with me. Don't need a lot of storytelling, just hope you can understand the rainy season and the sun, sit and chat while I make tea, and switch between the songs you like while driving. I believe you are sincere and willing to walk with me through the morning mist of tea mountains in this vibrant land, if you also desire a down-to-earth and warm feeling. To see the sunset over the Lancang River, let's start with a phrase "Hello" and get to know each other slowly. \N - A person who is waiting for you in the wind in Xishuangbanna
